Frequently Asked Questions

How long is our session?

Your session will last between 45 minutes and 3 hours depending on the size of your family, comfort level of your children and the location we are in. It’s best if you don’t schedule anything for right after your session because the best photographs happen when everyone is relaxed and not worried about the time. We generally will not schedule more than one session in the morning and one in the afternoon to ensure that your family has our undivided attention.

How many photos will we get?

After your session you will have between 30 and 50 photographs to choose from. Please remember that your session fee does not include files or prints. The session fee covers our time and talent to take the photographs and to perfect them afterwards to ensure you receive only the highest quality images of your beautiful family.

How soon will we see proofs from our session?

We will schedule a proofing session with you to see your pictures within 2 weeks. This can be in your home if you have a television with an accessible HDMI port (most new TVs have this) that we can use to display the final gallery. Viewing is also available in our home studio. It is best to view your images on a large, high-quality screen to truly showcase your family pictures and give you a better opportunity to select your favourites.

What should we wear?

In general we recommend you wear clothes that make you feel good and are comfortable. Solid colours are usually best for both adults and children as large logos, characters and busy patterns can be distracting in photographs. Try to dress everyone for the same season and in complimentary colours – though Dad in a Hawaiian shirt with baby in a snowsuit can be a cute picture it’s probably not one you’ll want to hang on your wall. Keep in mind that we will likely end up outside so dress for the weather and don’t wear expensive dry-clean only clothes because there is a good chance that we’ll be rolling around on the ground and jumping off playground equipment. Mum and Dad should be prepared to get in the pictures – after all, you’re most definitely part of the ‘family’ in ‘family photography’!

How far in advance should we schedule our session?

If you have a specific date in mind we suggest you contact us at least two months in advance to make sure we can accommodate you. If your schedule is flexible we can sometimes book a session for the same week.

Our place or yours?

That is entirely up to you. The comfort of your family is very important both for the quality of the images but also for your overall experience. About 75 percent of our clients prefer an on location session. We find that most people are much more comfortable in their own space and that can make a big difference in the final pictures.
This can be at your home or at another location. If you would prefer we come to you we are glad to travel anywhere in Stoney Creek, Ancaster, Hamilton, Grimsby, Dundas, Burlington, Waterdown and surrounding area to photograph your family.

When is the best time to photograph children?

If you want sleepy, snuggly newborn photos it is best to schedule the session while you are still pregnant for sometime in your new little one’s estimated first two weeks. We keep our schedule a little lighter around these times to accommodate early and late arrivals. The 6-8 month milestone is a great time for another session. They’ve grown so much in that time and are just sitting on their own but not yet (usually) crawling all over the place. You can really see a personality starting to shine here. By your child’s first birthday they are a really a mover and a shaker. A cakesmash session is a real hit for this milestone and results in some pretty adorable, memorable photos. After this any time can be a great time for a session – first missing tooth, starting school, holiday cards, just because the mood struck you… these moments pass so quickly, it’s nice to have a record of your family growing and maturing together.

Do you offer Gift Certificates?

Yes, we offer gift certificates for photography sessions as well as various packages. This is a great gift for the family who has everything – contact us to discuss gift certificate options for any upcoming holiday or special event.

Do you photograph birthday parties?

Absolutely! Our birthday party package includes one and half hours of photography, one 5x7 print for up to 10 party guests, one 8x10 print for the birthday boy or girl and a selection of Facebook quality, watermarked images to share online. Additional prints are available individually or in one of our many collections.

Do you have a referral program?

We love to thank you for spreading the word! When you refer a a friend or family member to our studio we will send you a certificate for $50.00 toward your next session once they have had theirs.
