One of my all-time favourite group of websites is the Offbeat Empire. From when I was a teenager and stumbled upon the amazingly creative weddings featured on Offbeat Bride, I have been hooked into this community of people who are a little different from the mainstream and are usually SO supportive of each other. Usually the posts are fun and sometimes thought provoking - days like today, they pull at my heartstrings.

Today on Offbeat Home, there is a post from a woman who was incredibly self-conscious and nervous about posing for a photography project a friend was working on. We work with so many moms (and dads, for that matter) who feel this way and I can't help but wonder how many of you are postponing a family photo session until you drop five pounds/grow out your hair/finish your tattoo/get a good tan. Let me tell you a secret: I think you're beautiful. And more importantly, your kids think you are absolutely gorgeous. Give me a chance to show you how we see you when we look through the camera lens - happy, confident, and totally in love with your family.

Guess what's coming to Hamilton?! Veggie Fest! And guess who's the official photographer? :) As people who love food and don't eat animal products, we are SO SO SO excited about this event for people who like to get their daily 5-10 (or more). The title sponsor is one of our favourite restaurants, The Naked Sprout and we'll be seeing EcoParent Magazine there as well!
We love working with local organizations and people who share our values and can't wait for June 15th. Will we be seeing you there?
A couple of weeks ago, this major Potterhead (aka Harry Potter Fan) heard that the McMaster was hosting the Marauders Cup - a QUIDDITCH tournament! I knew that Mac had a quidditch team but with multiple night classes and a toddler I couldn't make it out to play. But we could certainly go and cheer on the teams. And now that I've handed in all of my papers and projects for this term I can finally post pictures!

Heads down, the snitch is released!
I convinced my cousin that it would be fun and she came along as well, even though she had zero interest in Harry Potter.
Spring is in the air so Jonathon and I decided to do spring cleaning and organizing! We ordered a bunch of new prints for the house (later this week Jonathon has a post for you with tips for hanging your photos) and got to work putting up new frames. We also wanted to update some of our older photos and Jonathon made an interesting discovery:

ZOMG!
Okay, we might have squeezed in a couple of extra sessions even though it was COLD outside. This family were great sports about playing outside in close to freezing temperatures and OMYGOSH aren't these siblings adorable?

Not if I tickle you first!
Really, just a beautiful family - thank you for having so much fun with us in Gage Park!

Love those smiles. :)
I have one more surprise session next week and then that's it until the spring!
Hello to all of our wonderful clients and beautiful families! We had a great spring, summer and autumn with all of you, now it's getting colder and wetter outside. Aside from a few special occasions (weddings and birthday parties!) coming up this winter, we'll be closing down until the weather is back above 5 degrees and the snow has melted. We're looking forward to a bigger and better 2013 with all of your smiling faces, but for now we're going to settle in for a long winter's nap...

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
See you in the new year!
We met the MacNeil's on an absolutely beautiful day last week at Bayfront Park. I had fun showing their little one the lions in the gazebo and his little brother stayed awake for almost the entire photo session!

And just look at these eyes! Both little boys had absolutely incredible eyes, I loved the sense of wonder in his face. :)

Of course, we managed to get Mom and Dad off to the side for a few minutes too. <3

With two playgrounds in Gage Park, sometimes the kids wear us out a little bit! Little mister Allington from Milton desperately wanted to spend time at both, and who were we to disagree? In between swinging from the monkey bars and taking turns on the slide we had a great time with this family.
