What to Expect (Before, During and After Your Portrait Session)

You've probably seen some of our photos already so you know that we shoot with an organic and natural style and won't try to turn you into a contortionist to pose you perfectly. We pretty much only photograph in natural light outdoors because it gives you and the kids more room to run around and get real rosy cheeks and have fits of giggles. Your portraits should capture not just what your family looks like but also your personality and love for each other too.

Before Your Session

Because we specialize in family photography you can be sure of our dedication to making sure you absolutely love your family pictures. When setting up your family portrait session you will chat with either Ashleigh or Jonathon. We learn about what makes your family tick and what you are looking for in your images. This can be done in person, by email or over the phone – whichever option works best for you. We will likely have your session outdoors so we'll pick a nice park or other outside location close to you so that you and your children don't have to travel far!

At Your Session

Your photography session should be a fun and memorable experience. As a boutique studio we spend the time to capture genuine feelings and candid moments. Most sessions are between one to two hours but if it takes longer or we are done sooner that's fine too. Because we took the time before your session to get to know each other everyone usually feels much more relaxed.

For the best photos we have one rule: there are no rules as long as what is happening won't hurt you or someone else. Your children do not need to be on their best behaviour for us - we love super energetic toddlers, independent teenagers and adult kids too. We don't want them on their best behaviour! Kids are messy, creative, active people and those are the moments you will want to remember when looking back.

So take a deep breath, relax and enjoy. Your true beauty will shine through as well if you're not worrying about the kids behaving!

After Your Session:

Once we part for the day we work together to enhance all of our favourite images from your session, making sure that you receive only our best work. Having two people involved in the editing process means that you'll benefit from multiple types of experience and artistic eyes.

Within a week we can meet with your family to view your final images and help you decide how to best display your favourite pictures. With anything from a framed piece for your wall to gorgeous photo books to enjoy for decades to come there are options for everyone - even gift prints for rest of the family (don't worry Grandma we've got you covered). If digital is more your thing we also have digital collections and custom apps for iPhone and Android.

Once you have chosen your favourites we want to make sure that your family can enjoy these pictures for decades to come so we use only the highest quality vendors for your prints and keepsakes. Including enhancements and ordering most clients have their final images within a couple weeks of the session.
